A traumatic brain and spine case against a $1M commercial policy settled for $310,000; liens were paid and the file is closed.
On September 2, 2025, a Sunrise Freight commercial truck failed to yield and struck Ms. Okafor’s vehicle in Shelby County. Zurich, as the motor-carrier liability insurer, accepted liability. This demand is directed to Zurich under a $1,000,000 combined single limit. Ms. Okafor also carries $250,000 in UM/UIM, which we will preserve. A commercial truck that fails to yield, followed by an accepted-liability admission, is not a fault contest. It is a damages file.
Resolved. A traumatic brain injury and lumbar disc protrusion with accepted liability under a $1,000,000 commercial policy settled for $310,000.
No further action. The matter settled for $310,000, liens were resolved at disbursement, and the file is closed. Retained as a comparable for future TBI/spine valuations.
